South Africa Obsession Deepens in Cape Town

This weekend I turned 29. Still a bit jet-lagged, I was thrilled to have a low-key weekend with good friends and good beaches here in good old New York. We even went to Coney Island and rode a few roller coasters (gotta stay young, ya know).

As we were sitting on Brighton Beach which is perfectly lovely, I had this special view….

I actually loved it, but …. I couldn’t help but put my sunglasses on and daydream about the beaches of Cape Town for a few minutes.

We were so lucky to have the best travel buddy: my beautiful mother-in-law. It was great to be together as we explored her country. As we were packing, my husband said “I don’t know what I was thinking to take a two week trip with my mother and my wife.” Poor guy, we did gang up on him. Particularly when he was driving. So these two pictures, sum it up. Though truthfully, I think the three of us are all crazy about each other and can’t wait for our next adventure.

Cape Town has year-around great weather, but apparently we went during the “worst month.” The city is known for it’s stunning mountains, but it wasn’t until our third day that I could actually see it. We seized the moment as soon as the skies cleared and headed up the mountain in a cable car just in time for a gorgeous sunset.

And don’t worry, we ate plenty in the Cape too. See my Facebook page for all that deliciousness.

Your photos are gorgeous and so are you and your family. You’ve inspired me to take my (often postponed) trip to Kenya. Thank you for showing me what I am missing; it’s incredible!
