Our last adventure before my camera was pimped out
It’s almost time for my big trip to South Africa. I have a lot to do before we go: pack, buy little NY treasures to bring to my new family, organize everything in my office, and get our place ready for our cousins who will be staying here while we’re gone.
Luckily, the most important thing I’m bringing is all set. My camera.
I’ve accessorized it with a new navajo print camera strap from Etsy.

I’ve been reading up on photography tips for safaris (here, here, and here). It’s highly recommended to have a lens with a telephoto zoom. The problem is that telephoto lens are quite pricey and I’m not snapping lions, zebras and giraffes too often here in Manhattan. Luckily, I was able to rent a great lens for for 3 weeks from Lens Giant. Did you know you could do that? I thought it was my own brilliant idea until I googled it and found a million companies that do it. It was a much more affordable option and it’s insured. Which we all know, everything I come into contact with should be insured (see #1 of my 2012 resolutions if you don’t know my issues).
