Happy Birthday Metallic Straw Slippers

In my family, we over-compensate for lousy singing voices by throwing an enthusiastic cha-cha-cha in between happy birthday verses. So, today, I want to give the loudest cha-cha-cha to my sister, Jodie. She is one of the two best sisters in the world. She is creative, loving, generous.  I only hope I can be a fraction of the mother, sister, and friend that she is someday. She’ll spend endless hours collecting rocks on the beach for me, make me giggle uncontrollably with just a few words, and she made blogging so much more fun by joining me on this crazy venture. I am in awe of her ideas on Love Them Madly and often I can’t wait to try them myself. Jodie featured awesome metallic baskets last week with an idea to use the same technique on other straw items.

Happy Birthday, Jo. These funny looking slippers are for you.

Materials:
Braided straw slippers (we found ours in a little Martha’s Vineyard shop for $5; you can order them here).
Metallic silver spray paint
Newspaper or painters tape

Directions:
Cover the areas you don’t want painted with newspaper. Secure with tape. Spray desired area. Touch up as needed. For more detail check out Jodie’s tutorial.
