“You sure you wanna have kids?” our 9-year old nephew intuitively asked me this weekend as we watched his very-tired 3-year old sister have a meltdown. Luckily, Dean and I aren’t scared off by a little tantrum here and there. With eleven nieces and nephews, we are receiving top-notch training and though we do want kids eventually, we’re enjoying this time when we can play with them and then retreat to our room for a full night’s sleep.
This weekend we had a fantastic trip to visit our family in Toronto. I’m so lucky to have in-laws that make me feel completely at home. Some highlights of the weekend were strolling the St. Lawrence Market (when the above-mentioned 3-year old looked up at me with her big blues and outstretched her little hand to hold mine); an all-you-can-eat sushi extravaganza; several rounds of rummikub, a perfect afternoon outside with the whole family; and a tutorial by my brother-in-law on making the most delicious bagel french toast ever made.
Here’s a peek at downtown Toronto and the St. Lawrence Market:
Now don’t worry, I’m not holding out on you. My brother-in-law did teach me the tricks to his famous french toast, but he cooks like a Bubbe… a pinch of this and a splash of that. More details and photos to come later this week, I promise.

Looks like you went there for food
It’s always about the food.
